This eliminates the need for homeowners to hire the services of an outside Architecture firm to handle the design of their new home or remodeling project. A true Design/Build philosophy includes the services of a designer, either on staff or in direct relationship with the construction company. While the concept is not new in the construction business, its popularity in the marketplace is still in its infancy. Up until a few years ago, this philosophy in home building/remodeling was almost unheard of. Still today, only a few contractors offer true Design/Build services.
Why Design/Build? For many years, homeowner’s desiring a major expansion would hire a local architect for the design phase, which then would be given to a group of contractors to bid on the project. This would sometimes lead to questions from both sides on the scope and function of the design, which in many cases led to miscommunication and error.
